Safeguarding & Welfare

The welfare of our swimmers is our highest priority. Here's how we keep everyone safe and who to contact if you have a concern.

Our commitment

Alsager Swimming Club is committed to providing a safe, positive and inclusive environment for all members, especially children and young people. We follow Swim England's safeguarding guidance and expect all members, coaches, volunteers and parents to uphold our codes of conduct.

All swimmers, coaches, committee members and volunteers confirm that they have read and understood the Swim England Codes of Conduct on joining, and again each year at membership renewal. Anyone found in breach of these codes may face suspension.

Report a concern

We have two internal Welfare Officers and one external Welfare Officer. If you have any welfare or safeguarding concern, please report it in confidence:

In an emergency, or if a child is at immediate risk, always call 999. You can also contact the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000 or Swim England's Safeguarding Team.

For coaches, parents & swimmers

Session rules & expectations

Before leaving home

  • Make sure you have all your equipment, including a water bottle clearly labelled with your name.
  • Please use the toilet before you leave home or before going onto the pool deck.

Arriving at the pool

  • Swimmers should arrive on time, at least 10 minutes before their session. Being late disrupts all swimmers and coaches.
  • Parents of swimmers aged 8 and under may accompany their child in the changing room.

Training / swimming

  • Please listen carefully to your coach and be ready to enter the water when instructed.
  • If a swimmer has any issues understanding sessions, please speak to their coach, the Head Coach or a committee member.

Leaving the leisure centre

  • All swimmers should shower and change in a timely manner.
  • Parents/guardians should be ready to collect their swimmer at least 5 minutes before the end of the session.
  • If you are going to be late collecting, please follow the club’s Late Collection of Child policy.
  • Masters (adult) members should use their own area of the changing facilities wherever possible when changing at the same time as under-18s, and always change mindfully.

Photography policy

Photography and filming at sessions and galas is governed by our photography policy to protect our young members.

Anti-bullying

Bullying of any kind is not tolerated. We promote a culture of respect, kindness and inclusion across the club.
